The pursuit of the perfect chip

A UK company built by players who wanted casino-grade equipment without the industrial procurement headache.

Why we exist

The gap between retail poker sets and what a serious game actually needs.

Poker Foundry started at the table, not in a boardroom. We were players and hosts who kept buying sets labelled "professional" that felt nothing like the chips on a casino floor — too light, wrong texture, stickers that peeled, denominations that made no sense for our game.

We believed equipment should match the integrity of the play, whether that is a weekly home game or a commercial poker room. So we stopped accepting mediocre and spent two years finding manufacturers who actually supply the international gaming industry — then built a direct path from your artwork to finished chips, without industrial catalogues or opaque pricing.

Today we handle the supplier relationships, specification, and quality control so you can focus on the design and the game. That is the company: not a rebrand of stock chips, but a UK operation built around fully custom, casino-spec clay and ceramic.

What two years of prototyping taught us

Most samples failed the shuffle test long before they failed our standards on paper.

We ordered prototypes from dozens of factories. Many looked fine in photos and failed immediately in the hand — wrong density, poor stack stability, print that would not survive a season of play.

We tested clay composites and ceramic lines against the specs used in live poker rooms: 10g weight, edge profile, inlay or direct-print retention, and impact resistance. We rejected side-printed ceramic (edge graphics fail under shuffle stress) and anything that relied on peelable decals over moulded blanks.

The clay and ceramic lines we run today are the result of that filtering — documented in full in our sourcing and quality standards article. Clay: printed label inlay, bevelled edge, 25,000+ impact cycles. Ceramic: direct-to-chip print, flat edge, 50,000+ impact cycles. Same printable face area on both; different construction for different priorities.

Who we make chips for

The same manufacturing standards, whether you are kitting out a flat or a card room.

Home game hosts upgrading from plastic or mid-tier composite — usually 650–1,000 chips with custom denominations and a logo that finally matches the game.

Poker clubs and regular cash games that need durable sets, consistent branding across sessions, and reorder capability. We have supplied club series runs in the 1,000–2,000+ chip range.

Tournaments, corporate events, and branded gifts where visual impact and clear chip values matter as much as feel.

Commercial poker rooms that want casino-spec equipment without navigating factory MOQs and freight logistics themselves.

If you are weighing material choice or set size, our buying guides go deeper — but this page is about who we are, not a product walkthrough. Head to the homepage to compare lines and quote, or read how to choose custom poker chips when you are ready.
